7:30pm John Bridcut's film: 'Requiem'

The Triangle Centre, Liss  GU33 7DX

In 'Requiem', Liss resident and film-maker John Bridcut explores the significance and history of one of the oldest musical forms, from plainsong to Penderecki, and discusses its enduring appeal with some of its greatest exponents.   The great Requiems of Mozart, Berlioz, Verdi and Fauré have been rooted in the Latin requiem mass of the Roman Catholic Church.  But now, thanks to Brahms and Britten, the Requiem has spread into other Christian traditions, producing some of the finest classical music ever written.
A production by Bulb Films and Crux Productions, originally shown on BBC Television.   John Bridcut's most recent film is The Genius of the Mad King, shown in January on BBC Two.  Last year he produced Elizabeth at 90 – A Family Tribute for the Queen’s landmark birthday, and Europe: Them or Us, a two-part documentary presented by Nick Robinson at the start of the referendum campaign.

There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience at the end.
